A Genesee County man was killed in a shooting at a party in Byron. Sheriff's deputies said John Carney, 23, was killed with his own gun while at a party with friends. Deputies said Carney and his friends were playing some sort of game with his semi-automatic pistol when the gun went off. Carney had a permit for the gun. Investigators said two people who were in the room at the time of the shooting. The incident is still under investigation.
