Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is the projected winner of the US Senate contest in New York. The incumbent Democrat beat out Republican and political newcomer Chele Farley. Polls showed Gillibrand with double digit leads throughout the campaign. It's a key hold out for the Democratic party as it tries to gain seats in the Senate.
