Irondequoit's Annual Fall Bow Hunt for Deer Opens Next Week

Irondequoit's annual fall bow hunt for deer opens on Tuesday. The deer management program has been going on since the late 1990's.

The annual hunt is held in conjunction with the state Department of Environmental Conservation to manage the Town's deer population.

The hunt is only allowed on properties that have agreed to allow it and are at a safe distance from homes and roads.  Hunting is allowed only between sunrise and noon, and only on days when kids are in school.

Hunters must pass a proficiency test to be eligible.
