Man Wanted for Attempted Murder in Puerto Rico, Arrested in Rochester

A man wanted for the attempted murder of a police officer in Puerto Rico, has been taken into custody in Rochester.

The U.S. Marshals say they took Norberto Morales-Ferrer into custody after getting information that he might be in the Rochester area, staying with a friend.

Authorities say back in February, Morales-Ferrer allegedly opened fire on a police officer that had pulled over a vehicle that he and another man were in.

He was taken into custody without incident with the help of NY State Police, Rochester Police, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the NY Division of Community Supervision.

Morales-Ferrer was also wanted for possession of a weapon and possession of narcotics.

He is in the Monroe County Jail awaiting extradition back to Puerto Rico.
