Bookkeeper Accused of Stealing $17,000 From Employer

A Geneva man is accused of stealing more than $17,000 from his employer. Charles Speedy, 62, worked as a bookkeeper. He is accused of using his employer's checking account to make his mortgage payments. New York State Police said Speedy made 11 payments to his personal mortgage loan. Troopers say that included a $10,000 check used to pay down the principal on his mortgage.  Investigators said it happened between 2014 and 2016. Speedy was charged with grand larceny in the third degree.
