Man and Woman Facing Sex Trafficking Charges

Federal authorities say a man and woman recruited women online to become sex workers and supplied them with drugs to keep them from leaving.

Bruce Newton, Jr, and Cearra Campbell are facing sex trafficking charges. The federal complaint says the crimes happened last year at area hotels -- including one in Gates.

One woman told investigators she was recruited through an ad online and Newton kept all the money she earned. She said both suspects threatened and abused her.

The sex business was discovered after both suspects were accused of stealing from cars parked at funeral homes.
