Mother, Daughter Finalize Settlements in Collins Insider Trading Case

The girlfriend of Cameron Collins, son of Congressman Chris Collins, and her mother forfeit $42,000 to avoid insider trading charges. Federal court documents filed Tuesday show Lauren and Dorothy Zarsky agreed to pay a combined $42,040 to the Securities and Exchange Commission to avoid any federal charges. Lauren was ordered to pay back $19,440, while Dorothy was ordered to pay back $22,600. Both were also ordered to pay civil penalties and interest in addition to the original fines. Lauren Zarsky was dating Cameron Collins, son of the western New York Congressman. Collins, the Republican representative for New York's 27th District, was charged with federal insider trading and lying to the FBI. Collins ended his campaign on Saturday. At least eight Republicans have expressed interest in running against Democrat Nate McMurray if Collins gives up his seat for the November general election.
