UPDATE: Rochester Police say the search for a parole violator is what led authorities to close a portion of Herald Street today.
Police say they were assisting NYS Parole with attempting to locate that person at a residence in the area. The suspect was eventually taken into custody this afternoon.

A police investigation is underway in Rochester.
Police are asking people to avoid the area of Herald Street, Wilkins Street, Hudson Avenue and North Street, until further notice.
