Trump and Putin Hold Joint News Conference Following Summit in Helsinki

President Trump says constructive dialogue and diplomacy is much better than ongoing tension and conflict with Russia. At the start of a joint news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin today, Trump said he would rather take a political risk in pursuit of peace than risk peace in pursuit of politics.

Putin noted that the Cold War is over and said the U.S. and Russia must work together to combat terrorism, international crime syndicates and environmental threats.  He stressed that the U.S. and Russia must work together to maintain international security.

During the joint news conference,  Putin rejected allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Putin said Russia has never interfered and is not going to interfere in American elections.  A dozen Russian intelligence agents have been indicted by U.S. officials for allegedly trying to influence the presidential election.
