Rochester Man Sentenced For Bringing Loaded Handgun into Court

A Rochester man has been sentenced to six years in prison after admitting that he tried to bring a loaded gun into the Monroe County Hall of Justice.

Authorities say last week, Robert Salters pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Salters was arrested back in January after he tried to walk into the Hall of Justice without declaring he had a weapon on him. He was entering the HOJ for a scheduled court appearance.

The .25 caliber handgun was found wrapped in a plastic bag, in Salters coat pocket. Six rounds of ammunition were found in the magazine.
