State Officials Issue Air Quality Health Advisory for Several Counties

State health and environmental officials have issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for several counties in our area.

The advisory is in effect until 11 p.m. in Monroe, Wayne, Genesee and Orleans counties -- and Niagara, Wyoming and Northern Cayuga counties.

The pollutant of concern is ground-level ozone, a major component of smog. Automobile exhaust and out-of-state emission sources get most of the blame for the ozone.

Small children and people who work or exercise outdoors are advised to take it easy.
