Penn Yan Man Facing Animal Cruelty Charges for Leaving Dog in Hot Car

A Penn Yan man is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly leaving his dog in a hot car.

The dog was spotted yesterday in a car in the Clifton Springs Hospital parking lot. An employee removed the 2-year-old Shar-pei mix and gave him water.

Ontario County animal welfare authorities say the temperature inside the car was above 120 degrees. The owner -- 77-year-old Robert McKay -- returned to the car an hour later and was arrested.
