Morelle Wins NY-25 Democratic Party Primary

Democratic Party primary voters in the 25th Congressional district have decided that Joe Morelle will represent them in the general election.

Morelle garnered over 40 percent of the vote in the four-way race defeating former TV reporter Rachel Barnhart, City Councilman Adam McFadden, and Brighton Town Board member Robin Wilt.

The Monroe County Board of Elections reports that as of 8 p.m. (polls closed at 9 p.m.) approximately 16% of eligible Democrat party voters had voted.

Morelle will take on Republican nominee Dr. Jim Maxwell on Tuesday November 6th.

Morelle has served in the State Assembly since 1991, and has served as Majority Leader since 2013.

New York's 25th Congressional seat is currently vacant, following the passing of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter on March 16th. Slaughter represented Monroe County for over 3 decades in Congress.
