Bill to Add Bereavement to NY Paid Family Leave

The State Assembly passed a bill on Wednesday to add bereavement to New York's paid family leave. The measure would allow people who lose a family member to take up to 12 weeks leave. The added costs will be minimal because employees are already paying into family leave. If signed by the governor, the amendment will go into effect in 2020 and follow the same guidelines as the current paid family leave.
