A GoFundMe account has raised more than $11,000 in memory of the Hilton High School senior who was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon in Greece.
The money will cover funeral and burial costs for 18-year-old Paige Smith. She was a passenger in a car driven by another Hilton senior, Brianna Scarpulla. Police say Scarpulla may have been distracted when her car crossed the center line on Latta Road and hit an oncoming SUV. Scarpulla is in guarded condition. The other driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Smith and Scarpulla were Hilton cheerleaders. A second online fundraiser has been set up for Scarpulla's medical bills.
Funeral services for Smith have been announced. Calling hours will take place from 1-4 p.m. this Saturday at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home on East Ave in Hilton. The funeral service will follow.
