Mt. Morris Man Pleads Not Guilty in Death of Rochester Child

A Mount Morris man has entered a not guilty plea on murder and manslaughter charges in the hit-and-run crash Saturday evening that killed a 3-year-old boy. 

Charging documents say Frank Cassata intentionally drove off Lyell Avenue -- near Myrtle Street -- to try to run down a man with whom he'd been arguing after a drug transaction went wrong. But Cassata missed him, and Instead, he struck and killed the neighbor boy -- Amir Pallet -- and injured his aunt. 

Amir's mother broke down and had to be led out of the courtroom. She and her sister tearfully condemned Cassata‚Äôs actions. 

Police say Cassata left the scene, then crashed minutes later into another vehicle. He and three other people were hurt and he was arrested.

Police say Cassata was drunk and had no license, and should never have been driving.
