NY State Police Name Man Killed in Seneca Co. Crash

State police have named the Palmyra man who was killed Saturday when he crashed his car while trying to outrun a Seneca County sheriff's deputy.

Troopers say 67-year-old Larry Murphy was in a speeding car on Route 96 in the Town of Varick, and refused to stop for the deputy.  Authorities say he drove recklessly, nearly hitting other vehicles, then turned onto Marshall Road and lost control of his car.

He sideswiped a telephone pole and the car rolled over. Murphy was dead at the scene. Deputies say his license had been revoked and alcohol appears to have been a factor.
