Man Pleads Guilty to Deadly Stabbing in Rochester

A Rochester man is facing 17 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to a deadly stabbing last July.

The Monroe County DA’s office says 23-year-old Amari Brown pleaded guilty yesterday to second degree murder for the death of Monica Sherman.

Prosecutors say Brown stabbed Sherman several times in the chest behind a business on Lyell Avenue. She died a short time later.

Police were able to use surveillance video to assist in their investigation and arrested Brown a couple weeks after the murder.

Brown will be sentenced next month.
