Federal Prosecutors in Buffalo Closing the Book on Cocaine Smuggling Case

Federal prosecutors in Buffalo are closing the book on a huge cocaine case with the sentencing of the sixth, and final, defendant.

Authorities say the defendants smuggled 3,500 pounds of cocaine across the border into Canada during deliveries spanning two years. Some of the cocaine was hidden in false compartments in tractor-trailers driven from California, and 270 pounds was seized-- most of it at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. That's the largest seizure ever by federal agents in western New York.

In court action yesterday, a man from Brampton, Ontario, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
