Rochester Train Station Will be Renamed in Honor of Louise Slaughter

Amtrak has agreed with requests by elected officials to rename the new Rochester train station the “Louise M. Slaughter Intermodal Station in Rochester.”

The requests came from Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, and were echoed by Governor Cuomo.

Slaughter is credited with securing the more than $18 million in federal funds that helped pay for the design and construction of the station, which opened in October. Amtrak will work with the City of Rochester and State of New York on the details of the naming and commemorative plaque.
