Rochester Train Station Could be Renamed in Honor of Late Congresswoman

Governor Cuomo and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand are asking Amtrak to rename the new Rochester train station in honor of the late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter.

It was Slaughter who fought for more than $18 million in federal funding to design and build the station, which opened in October.

The Senators are asking that the station be called the “Louise M. Slaughter Intermodal Station in Rochester.”

It will be up to Governor Cuomo to decide whether to call a special election to fill the seat left vacant by Slaughter's passing.
