Lawmakers Want to Block Proposed Trash Incinerator

State lawmakers from the Finger Lakes region are urging state officials to halt plans for a proposed trash incinerator at the former Seneca Army Depot.

In a letter to the governor and state regulators, the lawmakers ask that the application from Circular enerG be blocked. In the letter, they cite concerns about pollution and traffic.

The incinerator would burn tons of trash every day and generate electricity. But some area residents and wineries have been vocally opposed to the plan.
