Push to legalize sports gambling in New York State

Sport betting could be legalized in New York State. The decision is in the hands of the U.S. Supreme Court. The State Senate Committee on Gaming passed a bill on Tuesday that would allow for sports betting at all New York State casinos.  It would even allow them to take bets online. The bill's sponsor said that there's a lot to gain for state taxpayers if the U.S. Supreme Court lifts the federal ban on sports betting, and said that New York needs to be ready. Assemblyman John Bonacic said there is over $200 billion in illegal gambling in New York State.
