Perry Man Rescued From Submerged Vehicle in Pond

An elderly man is OK after his vehicle became partially submerged in a pond in the Town of Perry.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office says Deputies were called to State Route 20A Wednesday evening for the report of a vehicle that had been driven into a pond.

Authorities say the driver, 82-year-old George Reed was trapped in the vehicle, which was quickly sinking and almost fully underwater.

Crews were able to attach a tow rope to a rear tire of the vehicle and pull it to the edge of the pond where first responders were able to get Reed out. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for some minor injuries, and released.

Authorities say the cause of the accident was determined to be a reaction to another uninvolved vehicle.
