The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says four horses escaped from a stable along County Road 14 shortly before one of them was struck and killed by a pickup truck.
The horses belong to James Miller of Ionia, and a deputy was helping round them up around 2:30 this morning when one ran onto the road in the path of the pickup.
The driver and his passenger weren't hurt, but the horse was killed on impact.
