Credit Card Skimming Device Found on More Gas Pumps

Investigators in Livingston County say there have been more than 20 separate cases of credit card fraud around the county in the last seven weeks. Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty said people in Livonia, Avon, and Lima say their credit cards have been fraudulently used at various Walmart stores throughout New York. These reports started to come in on December 14, 2017. Most of the cards were believed to have been compromised at a gas pump where a skimming device captured the user's credit card information. Investigators are working to find the source of the scam. Anyone who bought gas in Livingston County should check their credit card accounts for any suspicious activity. If you see anything suspicious, contact your bank immediately and then contact the Sheriff's Office at (585) 243-7100.
