Southern California Wildfires Running Wild, Conditions Worsen

Four big wildfires are running wild across Southern California and fighting them could get even harder today. Forecasters say the Santa Ana winds that have been driving the fires all week will pick up even more, with gusts as high as 80 miles an hour.

The biggest fire, the Thomas Fire in Ventura County, has burned more than 100-thousand acres. The smallest is the Skirball Fire which is burning near heavily populated areas of Los Angeles, including expensive neighborhoods close to Beverly Hills. The Rye and Creek fires are burning about 20-thousand acres north of Los Angeles.

The four fires have forced around 200-thousand people to evacuate.  More than 150 homes and other buildings have burned to the ground.
