Gates police have arrested five people in the theft of thousands of dollars of tools and other items from the Home Depot on Buffalo Road.
Four of the suspects worked at the store. Police say the other suspect, Samuel Viele, conspired with the employees over three months to steal thousands of dollars in merchandise.
A raid at Viele's house turned up the stolen goods. Viele is charged with felony grand larceny and conspiracy.
The other suspects face related charges.
