The deadline for pistol permit holders to complete their permit recertification is fast approaching.
New York State Police want to remind pistol permit holders that if you were issued a Pistol or Revolver License before January 15, 2013, you must recertify by January 31, of next year.
Recent changes to New York State Penal Law require license holders to recertify every five years.
It is free to re-certify and people can do so online or by mail. Paper forms are also available at all NY State Police stations.
