Geneseo High School Varsity Football Team Will Forfeit Remainder of Season

The Geneseo High School Varsity Football season is over---and police are investigating after alleged drug use by some players.

Both the Geneseo Police Department and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident, which they say allegedly took place prior to Friday's game against Bolivar-Richburg.

Police say a player took Oxycontin from a parent, without the parent's knowledge or permission, and then gave the pills to several other players before the game.

School district officials released a statement that team was forfeiting that game, and the remainder of the season, based on the number of student-athletes involved and the serious nature of this incident.

The JV and Modified Football Teams will continue their seasons as planned. No arrests have been made.
