The West Irondequoit School District and Irondequoit Police are investigating how the artificial turf behind the Irondequoit High School was burned. The mark is six-to-eight feet around and found on the school logo. The district's Facebook page says this may have been a lightning strike. A community member called school security to report she saw lightning strike near the goal posts during the heavy thunderstorms yesterday morning.The field is closed because of the damage and the district's insurance company is assessing the situation.
