State Government Watchdog Group Sheds More Light on Double-Dipping

An analysis by a state government watchdog group has shed more light on double-dipping.

At least 849 public employees in the state have received special permission to collect government paychecks while also collecting public pensions.

That's according to data posted on SeeThroughNY --  the transparency website run by The Empire Center. The waivers allow public-sector retirees to return to work and exceed the $30,000 limit on earnings from public employers while collecting public pensions.

More than half were approved for New York City and its suburban counties. 185 were approved for New York State agencies.
