We now know the 12 finalists for induction this year in the World Video Game Hall of Fame at the Strong museum.
In alphabetical order, they are: Donkey Kong, Final Fantasy VII, Halo: Combat Evolved, Microsoft Windows Solitaire, Mortal Kombat, Myst, Pokemon Red and Green, Portal, Resident Evil, Street Fighter II, Tomb Raider, and Wii Sports.
The inductees will be chosen from that list by a panel of journalists and scholars.
The announcement of the inductees is set for May 4. Inductees are chosen based on their popularity around the world, longevity, and their influence on the design of other games and popular culture.
