This week marks the opening of the new House of Mercy shelter on Ormond Street in Rochester.
The building has 80 beds and a full commercial kitchen. The House of Mercy raised more than $4 million in grants and private donations to renovate the building.
Sister Grace Miller opened the first House of Mercy more than 30 years ago. A formal grand opening is planned for this spring.
