14 Dogs Rescued from Canandaigua Home, 2 People Charged

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and the Humane Society have removed 14 dogs from a home on Overlook Lane in Canandaigua following an animal cruelty investigation.

Authorities say the case began after an Ohio animal rescue group reported concerns about unsanitary conditions and lack of medical care for animals at the property, where they had previously fostered two dogs.

Deputies discovered 14 dogs of various ages, some confined in cages, others roaming freely.

They also rescued three cats and found four dead cats stored in a kitchen freezer.

63-year-old Sheila La Fleur and 61-year-old Robin Burr have been charged with animal cruelty.

The investigation is ongoing.
