Sex Offender Convicted in Attempted Rape at UofR

The Monroe County District Attorney's Office says a man who sexually harassed a University of Rochester student has been convicted by a jury of burglary as a sexually motivated felony and sexual assault.

They say 37-year-old Brandon Decapua was also charged with attempted rape and public lewdness in two separate incidents at the U of R library.

Both incidents happened January 17th on the River Campus.

U of R Public Safety was called when a man exposed himself to a female student and chased her around a table.

The same man attacked and tried to rape another female student about three hours later.

Decapua was caught by Public Safety officers walking on campus and identified as a Level three sex offender on federal post-release supervision.
