A Pittsford native is among the top military leaders fired by the Trump Administration.
Lisa Franchetti was appointed by President Biden as Chief of Naval Operations, and confirmed by the Senate in November 2023.
That made her the first woman in American history to serve as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as the first woman Pentagon service chief.
Franchetti is a 1981 graduate of Pittsford Mendon High School, and had served in the Navy for nearly 40 years.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth didn't give a specific reason for her firing.
