Gary Smith
The man known as "Gary the Happy Pirate" has died at the age of 64.
Gary Smith was a children's entertainer and part of the duo "Doug and Gary."
He co-founded the Pirate Toy Fund in the mid-1990s.
The non-profit has handed out thousands of toys over the years to children in need around the Greater Rochester area, funded by public donations.
Smith worked for the Pirate Toy Fund for 25 years, retiring in 2020.
He continued to appear at fundraising events for the fund after his retirement.
He died this morning after a long illness.
