Comptroller: Addison Clerk Stole $1.1 Million in Village Funds

The longtime clerk-treasurer of a Steuben County village is accused of stealing over a million dollars in village funds.

The state Comptroller's Office says 55-year-old Ursula Baker stole checks intended for the village, converted them to cashier's checks, and cashed them.

The alleged theft goes back nearly 2 decades, at a cost of over $1.1 million.

The Comptroller began an audit of the village's finances in last year, and Stone resigned in March.

Stone is charged with grand larceny, money laundering, public corrupution, and falsifying records.
