Rochester General Hospital and its nurses union say they have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
Hospital president Tammy Snyder says the two sides found common ground on the two key issues -- wages and staffing.
The deal came after 25 bargaining sessions over the past 12 months.
It averts the five-day strike planned for next week. The nurses held a two-day strike in August.
It's a 42-month contract and now goes to the rank-and-file union members for a ratification vote.
