Rochester police were called to the Wegmans store on East Avenue yesterday, after an officer spotted a man who appeared to be in mental distress and was armed with a knife.
Police evacuated the store, and took the man into custody after about 10 minutes. He was taken to the hospital for mental health treatment.
And Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies searched the Penfield Target store after someone spotted a "suspicious condition," which turned out to be a note left in a bathroom.
Rochester police say someone can expect to be prosecuted if this was a hoax.
Nothing was found in the searches.
