Seven area men accused of running an illegal sports book and holding illegal poker games have been indicted by a federal grand jury.
Louis P. Ferrari II, Dominic Sprague, Tomasso Sessa, Anthony Amato, Joseph Lombardo, Jeffrey Boscarino, and James Civiletti are charged with conspiracy, transmission of wagering information, operating an illegal gambling business.
Federal prosecutors say the sports betting operation was run on a website and the poker games were held at an office building on Blossom Road in Rochester.
The investigation began in October 2020 and involved a raid of a poker game in April 2021
Retired Sergeant Thomas Loewke is awaiting sentencing for allegedly tipping off the ringleaders about the federal and state probe.
