Federal authorities say their efforts to curb gun violence in Rochester are paying off.
City officials called in the Feds last summer, just as the Gun Violence State of Emergency went into effect.
Much of that violence was traced to rival drug gangs including the Bloods.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Doug Gregory says those gang members are now facing justice.
Officer Tony Mazurkiewicz was investigating the gang activity last summer when he shot and killed, and his partner was wounded.
Meantime, officials say shooting victims are down by about half from this time a year ago, and homicides are down by about a third.
