The State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services is soliciting quotes for the disposal of expired COVID-19 supplies.
The items include hundreds of tons of PCR test kits, 500 tons of saline and ringers, plus hundreds of pallets of surgical masks, gloves and gowns.
The supplies are being kept at a warehouse in Dutchess County.
New York began procuring them at the start of the pandemic. The state says the items have expired and can't be used by the state or anyone else.
The disposal contract will be awarded next month.
