New York State of Emergency Declared as Expiration of Title 42 Looms

Governor Hochul has declared a state of emergency as the state prepares for an influx of asylum seekers.

It comes ahead of tomorrow's expiration of Title 42 -- which allowed the federal government to stop asylum seekers from entering the U.S. during the COVID pandemic

Hochul says her executive order will expand municipal capabilities and increase the capacity of the National Guard to provide logistical support.

She says the state's budget will also grant New York City more than one-billion dollars to handle its ongoing migrant crisis.
