Gov. Hochul Announces State Budget Agreement

Governor Hochul has announced a "conceptual agreement" on the New York State budget.

Hochul called a surprise news conference Thursday evening.

The $229 billion spending plan comes in at $2 billion more than Governor Hochul's original budget proposal.

It includes a much-requested change to bail reform, removing the "least restrictive" standard for some violent felonies.

It also contains an increase in the state's minimum wage, which will be tied to inflation.

Lawmakers will now need to vote on the budget.

The original budget deadline was April 1st, but lawmakers passed a fifth budget extender earlier this week.
