Irondequoit Councilmember's Discrimination Lawsuit Dismissed

A federal judge has dismissed the racial discrimination lawsuit brought by Irondequoit Town Councilwoman Patrina Freeman against the Town and two other councilmembers.

Freeman had been named by the former town supervisor to chair a town commission on racial equity.

She claimed in the lawsuit that she was unfairly denied town funds for a website, meals for meetings, or use of meeting rooms.

The town says the judge ruled the facts did not show racial discrimination, only political disputes.

One defendant, Councilman John Perticone, says the lawsuit was frivolous, and he's calling on Freeman to resign.
