About 320 skilled trade workers at the University of Rochester have set an October 24th strike date.
Contract talks have been going on since June, and the union members rejected a proposed contract in September.
The union represents engineers, mechanics and heavy equipment operators who work at the campus and the medical center.
The U of R says it has been negotiating in good faith for a contract renewal that is competitive, fair, and equitable.
And the U of R says it has a plan in place to make sure the teaching, research and patient care can continue if there is a strike.
