Former Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is returning to public life.
The Monroe County Democratic Committee says Warren has been appointed to lead the party committee in the 22nd legislative district.
The announcement comes just days after Warren publicly broke with most county Democrats in the debate over redistricting.
She spoke at a meeting in favor of a plan that supporters say guarantees five majority Black districts in the county legislature.
Warren resigned as mayor last year after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor campaign finance charge.
