Wegmans is doing away with its SCAN app, which allowed shoppers to scan and bag their groceries as they shopped.
The goal was to give shoppers a convenient way to checkout faster and minimize contact with other people during the pandemic -- but Wegmans says too many people were leaving the stores without paying for their items.
Wegmans says customers liked the convenience but the losses were too high.
The app will be discontinued on Sunday.
